Merry Christmas to All

This is just a short note to all of you. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Remember the reason for the season is not Santa Claus but Jesus.

On a side note, if you need any goodies for the holidays, give me a shout out.

This week brings us up to date with the wedding of the month. Sara Boyer became Mrs. Mark Thelan this past Saturday and of course the"cakelady" was there. We had a wonderful time and the food was fantastic. They were married at St. Peter and Paul Catholic church here in Chattanooga and the reception was at the Marriott. The dinner consisted of baked chicken over smashed potatoes ( I say smashed cause they were) with gravy and steamed vegetables. There was an open bar and I know of a few people that got a little on the tipsy side. Not me of course since I have gone off the stuff. We danced the night away. Fortunately, no one was injured at this wedding. That's another story for later maybe. :) I have attached a few pictures of the wedding. Of course the one and only made both cakes.

The groom's cake is chocolate with chocolate fudge icing with chopped up Reece's peanut butter cups on top.

The bride's cake is traditional white wedding cake with a touch of almond flavoring with buttercream frosting.

The bride's colors were, as if you couldn't guess, black and red. It was a really pretty set up.

My husband pointed out that this is the last of the weddings of all the girls we know that grew up with our 2 daughters. Kinda sad. He said that is why he wanted to dance the night away. he didn't know when he would get to dance again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST MAN ON EARTH!!!!!

This week finds me trying to stay on schedule. One of my best friend's daughter is getting married on Saturday and I am doing her grooms cake and her bride's cake. This will be the first time that I have done both for a wedding. It is also my husband Van's birthday. I have each day planned for what I will do to get ready for the big day Saturday. Wednesday is taken to go eat with Van and his family to celebrate his and his twin brother's birthday. About the only thing I will be able to do is make buttercream icing. I got the grooms cake decorated last nite(Tues.) so Thursday and Friday is dedicated to the bride's cake. It is a simple design and shouldn't pose any problems. I thoroughly enjoy decorating because I can lose myself in it and forget about all of my problems.
I will try to remember to make pictures of the cake and post them soon. I am working now on a price list and some more information for my cakes.
As I have said previously, be patient with me.

Starting Up

Everyone has been after me to start my own blog so here I am. I have started this blog for one reason and that is to promote my little side business that I am trying to establish. It is called "Tiers of Joy" and if you can't guess what it is about then I guess you aren't in the market for a cake.

Please be patient with me as I am learning about the blog world. Both my daughters have a blog site so hopefully I won't embarass them too much.
